[writing] Project List, February 2014

(Originally posted at carlamlee.com.)

Oh yeah, 2014 is definitely a busy year. Of course, February brings some excitement, because Sarah's getting married next week here in the U.S. It will be the first time we've been in the same place since 2005, which is far too long between visits. Good thing we got a lot of work done before she headed out, because we likely won't get a lot done until March.

[writing] Project List, December 2013

Last project list of 2013. This year has simultaneously gone by terribly quickly and amazingly slow. It's been a strange, difficult year, and one of the best parts of it has been all the writing Sarah and I have been able to do. I'm so grateful for the writing, and for her friendship, and for the technology that allows us to so easily work together from separate countries.

My current active projects include:

[writing] Monthly Project Update

ETA Lovecraftian Shenanigans cowriter just messaged me with this blurb for it (complete with DRAMATIC MOVIE ANNOUNCER VOICE!): In a WORLD where HOT DUDES have TENTACLES, WATCH OUT for NUZZLING RAT-MONSTERS!

Bwahaha. And now I can vent to her about this ableist thing I just read instead of blowing up online or being up half the night sitting on my hands so I won't blow up online.

So it's been almost two years since I regularly updated the monthly project updates, but it is time to start them again, because I get a lot more done when I keep track of my writing in a variety of ways.

This month, I thought I'd kick it off with a fun thing, too. When I’m in traffic, to entertain myself, once in awhile I'll come up with blurbs for my fiction writing projects. (I create them for my nonfiction writing projects, too, but mostly those are confidential, so I can’t really talk about them even if you were interested in legal writing projects.) I even say them aloud in a DRAMATIC MOVIE ANNOUNCER voice, sometimes.

(Sometimes the music is up too loud for that.)

So for this month's project update, I thought I'd include some of the recent blurbs. I recommend giving them your own DRAMATIC MOVIE ANNOUNCER voice.

So what are you working on right now?

[writing] Monthly Project Update

So it's been a few months (or seven, WHATEVER), but it's time to start the monthly project updates again. I think doing them in the middle of the month will work best for me, so here's hoping I'll hit the 15th of every month with these.

[writing] title fun

The other day I while writing my current projects post, I was hit upside the head with a couple YA novel titles. This is unusual, because the title is generally one of the last things I know, and I'm really crappy at them. This particular series is not like that at all, not only does the series have a title, but the first three books have titles as well, and taglines, and mini-blurbs. It's freaky.

So I wrote all this down in my ideas file and moved on. Then today I woke up with an idea for the first book, and when I went to make a note of it, I ended up with 1000 words covering the first chapter and some specific outlining.

So yeah. I accidentally wrote 1000 words of vampire cheerleaders today, instead of the shapeshifter paranormal romance I'm supposed to be writing. Oops.

I still find the titles super cute. I keep cracking myself up with them.

Now to get a bit done on the shapeshifters paranormal romance, like I was supposed to do.
