[tv] Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Sons of Anarchy and October Road

I am currently watching Are You Afraid of the Dark? season one. I have been living in a sort of time warp lately, but this is truly ridiculous. My childhood love of horror has come to life again! (Not that it ever went away, but oh, man, I used to LOVE this show. Strike that, I still do, even with all its cheesy special effects glory.)

Jake got me hooked on two shows. First we watched October Road, which is excellent, and I adored it, and most episodes made me cry, and I really wish there was more to it, because I can't believe it's over. Then last night we started watching Sons of Anarchy and oh, man, I love it. I'd really like some more female characters, but I love two of the three main ones, and the dynamics between the various characters is fantastic and though I don't actually like those bikes (Harleys, pah), I love motorcycles and motorcyclists and leather and well, yes, this show pushes a lot of buttons and it is awesome.

TV IS AWESOME.

Jake got Neal and I hooked on Sons and then forgot the drive or something so we never finished the season...dirty heathen. I heart Jax.

Yeah, Jake told me you heart Jax. He told me I would heart him too, and he's growing on me, but I think my favorite character is Jax's dead dad. That book is all kinds of awesome.

I also love the women a whole lot. They are fantastic and layered and just so very interesting.

We only have like six episodes left, and this makes me sad. At least it has a second season coming up.

I agree. I love the doctor and his mom, even though she's evil. That book is amazing. I love how each episode it gets better and you gain deeper understanding of why it's so hard for them to change things or to leave the group behind.

Yeah, but some of my love for Jax is that it's Charlie Hunnam. I do like the character though. I feel for him.

It's totally biker Hamlet. ;-)

I was a big fan of October Road. It was SUCH a good show and I'm still sad that it was canceled. :(

Oh, yeah. Between it and Pushing Daisies, I'm sad of falling in love with shows and then having them ripped away. Even though I knew going in that October Road was done, it still makes me sad.

I loved Are You Afraid of the Dark?, too. I still sometimes catch it on Nick. I especially loved the one about the guy who stole all the sunken treasure and the zombie ghosts kept coming back for him.

I'll have to try to catch that one, I don't remember it. I had so much fun watching it last night, I think I'm going to keep this nostalgic tv watching going for awhile.
