Awwww. That made me feel so nostalgic for TLB, and I only just watched it last month! Why are we so crazy about that movie?
I worked this out two days ago in the shower, and I've not had time to share it before - this is a very me-specific reason. When I lived with my mother I would watch movies and she would always comment on how I made faces along with the characters, basically mirroring their emotions (if you ever notice me doing this, don't mention it, I hate it being mentioned, it makes feel really awkward) and she'd also tell me that there was something weird about watching a movie more than once, because I already knew how it ended, so what's the point?
Fandom, and most specifically the Lost Boys fandom, made me feel like there were loads of other people out there who didn't find it weird. I particularly love TLB because I remember someone running a quiz on TLB Trivia and one of the questions was "how many buttons are on Laddie's jacket?" I didn't know. I still don't know. Someone either has watched often enough to know or actually found a screen cap and counted the buttons. I love that level of interest in a thing.
tl;dr - I was a weirdo, but I found other weirdos, and it made me happy.
(PS: finally reading my copy of the book. Finally.)
(Edit: most of my big thoughts happen in the shower or bath, Carla often finds herself listening to a massive diatribe from me that start, "So, I was in the bath yesterday and I realised...")
Separate reply because OT
