Years ago, when I was still a young part-time bookseller(1), I picked up a book (on deep discount from the bargain books section) because it was about a female werewolf: Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. It was a quick read and I adored Elena and her world. (Flawed, but fantastic.) Since then, I've read most of Armstrong's books and am always extra excited when Elena's the POV character.

The tenth book of the Women of the Otherworld series is going to be about Elena again! Frostbitten.

Best news yet? It's released TOMORROW! I don't even have to wait! I rarely buy books on release day anymore, but I think I'll make an exception for this one(2).


(1) Or possibly it was one of the books I bought the day of my interview, but either way, it was a long time ago and it was right around the time I started working at the bookstore.

(2) tammypierce's books always get exceptions, and karenhealey's will as well. In fact, my exceptions list is getting kind of unwieldy these days. I need to take a look at it.

I started this series with the witch book (third one I think) and loved it, loved the vampires, too; never could get into the werewolves so I only read the first four or so. Maybe if I'd started from the beginning I'd have continued them, though I have to admit that of supernatural creatures I much prefer witches and vampires over werewolves. Glad you're excited, though!

I think I'd like the other narrators better if I started with them (or if I loved werewolves a tiny bit less), but I enjoyed Elena's narration so much (despite the fact she annoys the hell out of me sometimes) I had a hard time switching to the witch books. I've since grown fonder of the witches, but each time Armstrong switches to a new narrator, I'm leery of picking up the book. Change bad! Except not really. Hee.

I went out and bought it this evening and now that I'm done with the micro-paper I was writing, I am going to go read it as a reward. I hope it holds up to my excitement.

When I move back to KC full time next fall, we'll have to hang out and talk about books. I'll try not to fail so much at scheduling things this time. Hopefully it will be better when I'm not on an eight week interview.

I just read her young adult series The Awakening and The Summoning, and really enjoyed them, so I think I'll definitely give Bitten a go. Even if it's a flawed start, I love good world building.
